Shirt

The cottage was dark and small
Tiny windows let in little air
I asked how could I get out of here
This is the answer that I will share
“If you want to get anywhere
It’s in the shirt you wear.”
I wanted to move to the big house
of windows In the shade,
To which I made sure I saved
enough from the check that I was paid
I told the realtor that I wanted to move
to the house of windows over there
Away from the cottage of darkness over here
Which I was told:
“If you want to get anywhere
It’s in the shirt you wear.”
“I did change my shirt, aren’t you aware
I shopped for the best with great care”
“Sometimes, it's not just the shirt
That gets you there.”
