The Daily Poetry Stop
I am going back to my roots. The way I had originally envisioned this site. I will post random poems here. New, old, published and unpublished. I no longer feel that I need a motivational reason to write. It is just something I do.

Runaway
© by Aubrey E. Drummond
It ran away because
It didn’t know what else it
was supposed to do
Was it supposed to sit
And listen to the mumbo-jumbo
Of the words
that it could not understand?
Should it have tried and lied
said it understood and would do
all it could to improve?
no, better to run and hide
far from the words
filled with hateful hurt
though the language
it could not understand
it did understand
that the words were met
to cause pain
better to run and
start a brand-new life
yes, it would stay away
far
far
away
from the hurt
